Ross Scheuerman ’15 (Creamridge, New Jersey) has been invited to the 2015 NFL Scouting Combine, which will be held Feb. 17-23 in Indianapolis at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Tailback Ross Scheuerman ’15 ran for a team record 304 yards in the 150th Lafayette-Lehigh game at Yankee Stadium.
NFL executives, coaching staffs, player personnel departments, and medical personnel from all 32 NFL teams will attend the event, which evaluates the nation’s top college football players eligible for the upcoming NFL Draft. More than 300 athletes are scheduled to participate in the combine at the Indianapolis Colts’ home stadium. The NFL Scouting Combine will be shown on NFL Network.
Scheuerman is coming off an appearance in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in mid-January, a nationally televised showcase in Carson, Calif.
“This is a pretty surreal feeling being invited to the NFL Combine,” says the economics major. “It’s just another opportunity to showcase my skills and another step in this long journey. I really couldn’t be happier and I cannot wait to get out to Indianapolis.”
One of the top running backs ever to don the Maroon and White, Scheuerman churned out 3,504 rushing yards and 31 rushing touchdowns in four seasons, marks that place him third and fourth, respectively, at Lafayette. On Nov. 22, 2014, he hammered his name into Lafayette football lore forever, entertaining the sold-out crowd at Yankee Stadium with a 304-yard, three-touchdown performance in the 150th meeting of college football’s most-played rivalry. The 45-carry showing garnered him The Sports Network FCS Offensive Player of the Week honors, was the top rushing performance by an FCS player in 2014, and set a Patriot League record for rushing yards in a game.
Scheuerman finished 2014 with 1,191 rushing yards, his second straight season eclipsing the 1000-yard plateau, and garnered All-Patriot League First-Team laurels after three previous selections to the second team and a Patriot League Rookie of the Year naming in 2011. Scheuerman also led the team in receiving with 57 catches for 521 yards and three TD’s, ending his career with 129 career grabs for 1,129 yards and eight TD’s.
