Professor Julie Smith

Julie Smith, professor of economics, is quoted in U.S. News & World Report regarding President Donald Trump’s executive measure to provide unemployed Americans with a $400 weekly benefit.

Smith commented on whether the extra benefit would likely to have an impact on the national economy.

“For households to change their spending patterns, they need to be confident that these benefits won’t be overturned or end abruptly. Without more certainty, households will be hesitant to spend,” she says.
