Prof. John Kincaid shares insights on the Georgia Senate runoffs on WFMZ-TV 69 News
As eyes around the country turned toward the Georgia Senate runoff election on January 5, WFMZ-TV 69 News reached out to Prof. John Kincaid to provide perspective on how the election results will impact the incoming Biden/Harris administration.
Kincaid, Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Professor of Government and Public Service, explained that Democrats prevailing in the Georgia race could make Harris one of the most powerful vice presidents in American history.
“This is historically unprecedented because it would be a two-year period in which the vice president would be the tiebreaker and vote in the Senate,” Kincaid said. “That will give her a lot of bargaining leverage not only with the Senate but also with President Biden because she has to cast the tie-breaking vote.”
