Joann Ordille

Joann Ordille, assistant professor of computer science, spoke with PBS39 to discuss the effectiveness of Pennsylvania’s COVID Alert app. The free app aims to share exposure alerts and connect users with vaccine information.

Ordille shared that hasn’t been enough public adoption of the app to make it effective. Currently, only about six percent of the state’s population uses the app. Still, features like a symptom tracker and a county-by-county case numbers are useful, and her hope is that the technology gains more traction.

Ordille’s work centers on “changing the world for the better through technological innovation.”
