Josh Parr kneels in rows of dirt in a flower bed, his name is across the bottom of the screenWMFZ-TV and The Morning Call reported on the Office of Sustainability’s Sunflowers for Ukraine event, an opportunity for community members to plant sunflowers as a symbolic gesture of hope and peace as well as a way to raise money for humanitarian efforts. The sunflowers will be harvested and sold in the fall, and the proceeds will support relief efforts.

Josh Parr, manager of food and farm at Lafayette, spearheaded the initiative. Jamie Mattikow ’86, CEO and president of Burpee Gardening, donated 3,000 sunflower seeds, which were planted at LaFarm and also will be planted in a garden near Acopian Engineering Center on campus.
