Michael C. O’Neill, professor of theater, founder and program manager for College Theater Angels and Theater Department Legacy Endowment Fund
Research areas: Modern theater; theatrical production; directing plays; playwriting and performance; theater history and criticism. Publications include articles on modern and contemporary theater. He earned his Ph.D. in modern drama from Purdue University.
His Lafayette journey: O’Neill joined the Lafayette faculty in 1992 and has served as department head, director of theater, and lecturer and producing artistic director.
A former Fulbright Fellow, he was senior lecturer at University of Gdansk, Poland, served as visiting Artist-in-Residence for the Eugene O’Neill Foundation at Tao House, and published Lost Again: A Novel in Stories.
Before coming to Lafayette, he served as associate professor of English and director of theater in the department of music, theater, and dance at Wilkes University, and founded and directed Free Shakespeare at Wilkes.
What he’ll be teaching in the fall: He’ll be teaching THTR 107, Introduction to Theater, and FYS Staging Science, Playing Technology. In the spring semester, O’Neill will direct Ah, Wilderness! by Eugene O’Neill.
