On Sept. 17, Lafayette College’s Dance Team hosted a fall clinic for Easton-area dancers.

Melissa Diehl, head coach of the dance team, says it’s the first time the team has ever hosted a kids’ clinic, and she was thrilled to welcome 40+ dancers to campus for a one-day workshop.

Many participants came from Dance Design Studio in Easton and Nardi Dance Studios in Palmer Township, but others traveled from New Jersey and New York to participate. The clinic was offered to local dancers ages 7-18.

“It gives young dancers in our community the chance to understand what it’s like to be on a dance team, and gives them that experience to see what it’s like at the college level,” Diehl says.

Diehl has previously offered a clinic for high school-age students and hopes to offer another kids’ clinic in the future. She encourages anyone who may be interested to follow @lafayettecollegedanceteam on Instagram.

Diehl says funds raised from the clinic will help offset travel expenses when the dance team competes in January at Nationals in Florida.
