Gladstone “Fluney” Hutchinson, associate professor of economics and policy studies, delivered the commencement address at SUNY Oneonta, his alma mater, on May 18 and received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, as reported by the Daily Star, a daily newspaper that serves central New York state.

A Class of 1983 alumnus, Hutchinson was awarded the honorary doctorate from the university in recognition of his contributions to the field of economics, service to others, and support of SUNY Oneonta students. At Lafayette, he also is the Whitman Family Director of the Gladstone Whitman ’49 Endowment Funds and founder of the Economic Empowerment and Global Learning Project.
