In the media: Prof. Hutchinson featured in Washington Post about his work in Jamaica with Kamala Harris’s father

Prof. Gladstone “Fluney” Hutchinson is featured in an Aug. 13 Washington Post article about how he partnered with Vice President Kamala Harris’s father to help revive Jamaica’s economy.

Hutchinson served as Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica in 2012 and brought in Donald J. Harris, a retired Stanford University economist, to collaborate with him on designing a growth strategy to recover the Jamaican economy.

In the article, Hutchinson, associate professor of economics and policy studies, Whitman Family Director of the Gladstone Whitman ’49 Endowment Funds, and founder of Lafayette’s Economic Empowerment and Global Learning Project (EEGLP), recalled his collaboration with Harris when he served as Director General of the Planning Institute of Jamaica in 2012. They co-edited “A Growth-Inducement Strategy for Jamaica in the Short and Medium Term.”
