Dear Colleagues,
As we launch our Bicentennial and look to Lafayette’s future, I am pleased to share staffing updates in the President’s Office designed to support critical operational areas and ensure ongoing mission alignment.
As many of you know, Scott Morse has been a longstanding Lafayette community member with different leadership roles within the Communications Division for over three decades. Based on his proven work as an ambassador for the College, service at the start of this year as acting vice president for communications and marketing, and insightful advisement to me and the Senior Leadership Team, I am pleased to share that Scott has been promoted to chief of staff. I am grateful for the agility of the Communications Division as he transitions from assistant vice president for Communications and Marketing, a role which he has held since 2022, and excited that he will continue to function as a trusted and strategic advisor, now in a broader role as my primary liaison to numerous College constituencies.
Nicole Eramo, who has served as chief of staff at Lafayette since February 2023, will transition to the role of senior advisor to the President, in which she will focus on three core areas: the Bicentennial, Board of Trustee relations, and community partnerships. Given Nicole’s experience in various leadership roles throughout her career and her work at Lafayette to-date, I am excited she will continue as a close advisor in this focused capacity.
In addition, Tess Gillespie joined the College this summer as executive assistant to the President. Since 2018, she has served in various roles at Lehigh University, initially as coordinator of the Center for Gender Equity and ultimately as executive secretary in the Office of Inclusive Excellence and Belonging.
Grace Moser ’24, has been renewed as our presidential fellow, while Jaison Freeman will transition to the Provost’s office to continue important work on our strategic plan and supporting mission-aligned implementation.
Please join me in congratulating Scott and Nicole on their new roles, and welcoming Tess to the Lafayette community. And I extend my best wishes as we begin the new academic year.
Yours,
President Nicole Hurd
