Morning Call article by Trebor Maitin '24 highlights tiny borough's election traditions and troubles, with commentary from Nicole Beckett of the Meyner Center
Lafayette College was well represented in an Oct. 23 Morning Call article about a tiny Northampton County borough’s write-in voting tradition and its struggles to find candidates to serve on its council.
Nicole Beckett, associate director of the Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Center for the Study of State and Local Government, was quoted in the article by Trebor Maitin ’24, who served as managing editor of The Lafayette. She commented on how the borough of Chapman, about 13 miles northwest of Easton, is similar to other small communities where there’s a lack of interest in serving in an elected office and no one is available to manage administrative business.
