Today, A.J. Miller ’11 is head coach of the Lafayette baseball team—but in 2009, he was a baseball player assigned to Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics Susan Averett as an advisee. As someone with experience being both a Division I athlete and a Lafayette student, Miller prides himself on meeting his players where they are. And on the academic side, he still looks to Averett for advice on the best way to support his players through their journeys, the way she was able to support him.

From time management to leadership skills, Miller’s players are benefiting from the skills he learned from Averett and Lafayette’s other top-notch faculty every day.

In a video presented to attendees at the College’s Bicentennial event in Miami, Miller and Averett shared how lasting relationships are a hallmark of a Lafayette education.
