Carol Rowlands

Carol Rowlands ’81, director of admissions, has been appointed to a newly created position at the College, associate dean of admissions and financial aid for operations and research.

“With her outstanding work ethic, acute attention to detail, and vast understanding of the current admissions operation, Carol is uniquely qualified to lead us in this critical area,” said Greg MacDonald, dean of admissions and financial aid, who announced today that Rowlands will assume her new responsibilities July 1.

“She will provide leadership and strategic planning for the admissions operations unit, which is responsible for managing the flow of information and communication to students as they proceed through the system as prospects to applicants to admitted and enrolled students. I look forward to working even more closely with Carol as we take immediate action to build the applicant pool.”

Rowlands began her career in admissions at the College in 1984 and was named director of admissions in 1998. As director, she has overseen the enrollment of 7,781 first-year students. Among many accomplishments, she was involved in developing the College’s partnership with the Posse Foundation in 2001, and has personally been involved in the selection of every Posse Scholar to enter Lafayette. The College recognized her dedication, loyalty, and service by naming her the inaugural recipient of the Cyrus R. Fleck Jr. ’52 Administrator of the Year Award in 2002 and the inaugural recipient of the Gary A. Evans Administrative Prize in 2007.

An English major at Lafayette, Rowlands holds an M.S. degree from Villanova University. A search for her successor as director of admissions will begin immediately, with an anticipated start date of July 1.
