Deborah Stine

My background: “I’m president of Science, Technology, and Innovation Policy Analysis & Education, LLC and founder and chief Instructor of the Science & Technology Policy Academy. I’m a freelance consultant, policy analyst, writer, video producer, professor, teacher, trainer, and study director whose career has been dedicated to translating science and technology to policymakers, the public, students, and investors, and translating policymakers, the public, students, and investors to the science and technology community. I earned my Ph.D. in public administration, with a focus on science and technology policy analysis, from American University. I also have a B.S. in mechanical and environmental engineering (double major) from the University of California, Irvine and an MBA. I was a field engineer for five years before moving into policy.”

This fall I’m teaching: “Introduction to Engineering and Public Policy.”

I’m excited to be here because: “I’m excited to teach engineers interested in public policy. I appreciate science and engineering students who understand the important role they can play in public policy, and the impact public policy has on science and engineering.  While I’m at Lafayette, I’m writing a book about science and engineering policy so that all scientists and engineers can benefit from my experiences in Washington, D.C., working in the White House and for Congress.”
