Assistant professor of mathematics earned a Ph.D. in mathematics from University of Minnesota and held a postdoc position at University of Michigan
I study: “Mathematical modeling of cancer using stochastic processes and differential equations”
Why? “Despite the numerous advancements that have been made in cancer research, there is still so much that we do not understand regarding development, detection, and treatment for many cancer subtypes. This makes it an extremely interesting area of focus, and I love the way that mathematics and modeling can be used to shed light on cancer-related questions. Stochastic processes are particularly useful tools to capture the randomness involved in cancer development.”
This fall I’m teaching: “Multivariable Calculus”
What students can expect from me: “My classes have a significant active and inquiry-based component, so students will have the opportunity to get to know each other and build a classroom community by working together to solve problems in groups.”
I’m excited to be here because: “I am excited to be a part of the vibrant, close-knit community at Lafayette, which has already been extremely welcoming in the first couple weeks since moving to Easton. I attended a small liberal arts college as an undergraduate, so I am excited to return to small classes and an environment that prioritizes teaching and learning.”
