John Kincaid poses in front of bookshelf

While the massive infrastructure bill that was passed last Friday was a win for congressional Democrats, last week’s statewide election results were a warning sign for the party — with Republicans sweeping statewide races in Virginia, which had been trending blue for years, and the Democratic governor in New Jersey winning by only a razor-thin margin. These results will mean plenty of focus on next year’s midterm elections.

John Kincaid, Robert B. and Helen S. Meyner Professor of Government and Public Service has been called upon by the media a number of times in the past week, providing expert insight on the fallout of the Nov. 4 elections and how they may affect voting in Nov., 2022.

  • WFMZ-TV 69 News: “I think it sends a signal, but the Democrats need to kind of regroup and decide how they’re going to approach the midterm elections.”
  • The Morning Call: “Democrats would have to make some significant accomplishments that appeal to the voters in order to turn this around. They can’t agree on what direction to go in and that’s a problem.”

The writings on the wall! People are fed up both Democrats and Republicans with the way our country is falling the last nine months. Inflation is skyrocketing like no other. Since the 30s. People have to start thinking about children and grandchildren and great grandchildren on their decisions in 2022.
