Lafayette College’s Chief Investment Officer Krishna Memani shared his insights on Indian stock sales by foreign funds with Economic Times.

January 28 marked the 12th-straight day of selling by Foreign Portfolio Investors. The outflow of overseas money in January for India was the highest among the major Asian markets, Economic Times reports.

“Right now, inflation and employment data are likely to tick up rather than go down,” said Memani. “Domestic investors have been net sellers for quite some time and domestic retail investors have had their hands burnt because of new-age companies.”

Prior taking his position with the College in 2020, Memani served as vice chairman of investments at Invesco. Memani joined Invesco when the firm combined with OppenheimerFunds in 2019, where he was chief investment officer.
