Lafayette is among a growing number of top colleges working to help address education debt
President Nicole Hurd and Forrest Stuart, vice president for enrollment management were quoted in an Oct. 14 CNBC report about how some of the nation’s top colleges have adopted no-loan policies as the federal government continues to work on student loan forgiveness initiatives.
On Oct. 6, Lafayette announced that, starting with new applicants in the 2024-25 academic year, families with total family incomes of up to $200,000 and typical assets for families in this income group will have their financial need met through grants and work study, without any loans.
“We have a moral obligation to make sure our low- and moderate-income families know that college is the best investment you’ll make in yourself,” Hurd told CNBC.
