Regional Bicentennial events continue as the Lafayette community gathered in Austin, Texas, to support the men's basketball team and celebrate academics at Lafayette
Bringing the classroom to the court: Lafayette College celebrated Leopard pride in Austin, Texas, last weekend, when over 60 community members attended the College’s second installment of “Students, Faculty, and the Power of &.” Attendees had the opportunity to support Lafayette men’s basketball while learning from the College’s talented faculty about the vital connection between statistics and sports—demonstrating how academic rigor influences competitive success.
President Nicole Hurd, as well as other faculty and staff members from the College, were in attendance to welcome alumni, family, and friends of the College.
“I am so grateful to the alumni and parents who joined us in Austin to celebrate our Bicentennial by showcasing our academics and athletics,” said President Hurd. “Prof. Trent Gaugler, Prof. Jeff Liebner, and Brian Leitz ’26 demonstrated beautifully the power of how our exceptional faculty mentor and inspire our students. And it was great to see our men’s basketball team represent us in Texas, a state where we are seeing an increase in applications and attracting more talent to our incredible institution.”
