Lafayette College has been named the 30th Best National Liberal Arts College in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report, which released its 2027 Best Colleges list today.
A guide for prospective students, families, and professionals, U.S. News & World Report also ranked Lafayette in Top Private Colleges (#27), a new list for 2027, and moved the College up 12 spots to #77 for Best Value Schools.
Lafayette’s Engineering Department proved to be strong in the rankings, earning #15 in Undergraduate Engineering Programs (No Doctorate), as well as #13 in civil engineering and #19 in mechanical engineering programs.
This ranking follows recognition for Lafayette on student happiness, career services, and more by The Princeton Review’s Best 392 Colleges last month.
“Rankings like this one confirm what makes Lafayette special: a faculty who are deeply invested in every student and a community that pushes each other toward excellence,” says President Nicole Hurd. “Two hundred years in, that has not changed, and it never will.”
Many of Lafayette’s popular academic programs continued to strengthen in the rankings as well, with the College rising 34 spots in Undergraduate Economics Programs, 28 spots in Undergraduate Computer Science Programs, and 53 spots in Undergraduate Psychology Programs.
U.S. News & World Report evaluates more than 1,700 institutions, examining factors like graduation rates, peer assessments, and student-faculty ratios gathered through a mix of submitted surveys and secondary sources.
