Clambake tailgate, football, and alumni gatherings among many events on tap
A clambake tailgate under the big tent and evening football vs. Penn will be among the highlights of Homecoming Saturday, Sept. 27.
The tailgate, with steamed clams, barbecue chicken, hot dogs, fresh salads, and more, will include children’s activities and visits from cheerleaders and the Leopard along with performances by student a cappella ensembles and the alumni band. Alumni of Chi Phi, Delta Tau Delta, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Kappa Delta Rho, and Sigma Chi fraternities will hold private receptions before the football game.
Student guides will lead walking tours of campus, and members of Friends of Lafayette Football will guide tours of Bourger Varsity Football House. The admissions office will conduct an information session and tour for college-bound children of alumni.
Bill Streeter ’74, executive director of the Delaware Valley Raptor Center, will do a presentation with live eagles, owls, and hawks. Campus exhibitions will feature the photography of George Panichas, Hogg Professor of Philosophy; the Williams Center for the Arts’ 25th anniversary; and Skillman Library’s Hugh Moore Dixie Cup Company Collection.
Homecoming will feature gatherings of Arts Society alumni, past Student Government presidents, and the Eric R. Thorpe ’89 Memorial Fund for Community Service as well as an alumni lacrosse game.
The volleyball team will host Holy Cross on Saturday. Alumni lacrosse and baseball games will be played that day as well. Volleyball, women’s soccer, and field hockey will all be in action on campus Friday evening, Sept. 26.
