Elise Buffinton ’14 (Lewisburg, Pa.) became Lafayette’s second woman to win an Eastern College Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship when she pole vaulted 12’ 11 ½” last weekend at Boston University.

Buffinton, an engineering studies major, is the indoor and outdoor school record holder in pole vault. She won the Indoor and Outdoor Patriot League Championship in pole vault during the 2012-13 season.

Penny Erisman Ferency ’91 took the top spot in the weight throw at the 1991 ECAC indoor championships.

Patriot League champion Rachel Pena ’14 (Ridgefield Park, N.J.) earned All East Honors in the weight throw for the second consecutive season, as she finished third in the event with a 61-foot heave. It is her fourth overall All East honor, two indoor and two outdoor.

Devin Smith ’16 (Andover, N.J.) ran a season-best 55.94 in the 400-meter dash, finishing 13th. Haley Langton ’15 (Hamilton, N.J.) ran a season-best 1:15.78 in the 500-meter dash.

The outdoor season kicks off March 29 at a Lafayette-hosted seven-way meet.
