“Our goal is to strengthen the bond between current students and alumni, encourage continuous and timely communication between students and alumni, and prepare students for continued involvement as alumni,” says Alison Ahart '03, President, who helped bring back the student-led alumni organization.
During its first full year, the Student Alumni Association greeted incoming students with a packet that included phone numbers and other useful items for newcomers at Lafayette. They hosted a pre-reception for young alumni prior to the annual Marquis Society reception. With Lafayette Activities Forum, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Delta Gamma, Pi Beta Phi, Kappa Delta Rho, and Theta Delta Chi, SAA hosted a concert by 7 Minds, a band with two alumni members. At the Lafayette-Lehigh football pregame reception, SAA sponsored a table with Leopard press-on tattoos and sold T-shirts promoting Lafayette pride.
Other officers include Cliff Michaels '02, vice president; Dani Cortese '02, treasurer; Trisha Tozzi '03, secretary; and Lauren Hubbard '03, recruiting chair.
“The group attended the March Alumni Council meeting,” says Jackie Jones, adviser and assistant director of the College Fund. “The theme was training and recruitment of volunteers. The students made a presentation and participated in discussions. Alumni enjoyed meeting the students and being with them.”
