Dana Mase, the nationally acclaimed vocalist and songwriter, will appear in concert on Monday, April 26, at 7:30 p.m. The performance is sponsored by the Hillel Society of Lafayette College, and will be held at the Williams Center for the Arts.

Mase will perform pieces from her most recent CD, Through the Concrete and the Rocks. The folk-rock sound along with Mase’s wider emotional range enrich the spiritual and religious message of her two previous CDs. Her new album is a deliberate effort to bring Mase’s rich musical past together with her unique spiritual journey. “A Little Light,” the first of eleven cuts on the CD, has already put the album on Gavin’s Top 40–a remarkable achievement for an independent artist.
Mase finds a universal spiritual experience in a particularly Jewish sensibility and fully expresses it within the American music tradition. Once a denizen of New York’s downtown musical scene and lead singer for Puss ‘n Boots, Mase left New York City to raise her family in a religious community. She has been working since to calibrate her musical message to her audience. Diary, her first CD, was released in 1994. Ethereal and soulful, it celebrated the blessings of a Jewish life and achieved recognition of her as a Jewish singer.
Her second CD was released two year later with special guest artist, David Broza. Through the Concrete and the Rocks was co-produced by Grammy nominated producer, Steve Addabbo.
A captivating performer, Mase develops a truly personal connection with an audience. Stories about her childhood, her family, and the overwhelming importance of love and faith paint a moving portrait of one Jewish woman’s experience. Enthusiastically acclaimed by both Jewish and secular presses, she and the band have performed nationally and internationally.
In conjunction with the release of Through the Concrete and the Rocks, Mase and her band were featured on the popular Nightbirds series at the Bottom Line presented by WFUV FM in New York. Her CDs are on the play list of Adult Alternative and Contemporary stations across the country.
