The Chorduroys, Lafayette’s male a cappella group, will hold open auditions 4:15-6 p.m. Thursday in the first floor lounge of Kirby House.
Students trying out should bring a short piece of music of their choosing. Sight-reading ability and range also will be tested.
The Chorduroys will compete in the quarterfinals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella Saturday, March 1 at University of Delaware. In tier 1 of the Mid-Atlantic division, their opponents are scheduled to be Nonsequitur, Columbia University; Mandarins, Syracuse University; Harpur Harpeggios, SUNY-Binghamton; Chordials, Cornell University; and Midnight Ramblers, University of Rochester.
The Chorduroys released a CD, One Size Fits All, in November. The group maintains an active performance schedule, including engagements off campus. More information is available on the Chorduroys’ web site.
Cadence, Lafayette’s female a cappella group, is competing in tier 3 of the championship tournament 8 p.m. Saturday at University of Maryland, College Park.
