Chi Phi and Tri-Delta Win Bocce Ball, Maintain First Place in Intramurals

The Chi Phi duos of John Ahearn ’03 and Chad Dolack ’02, and Bill Pyrz ’04 and Jared Barnes ’04, took first and third place, respectively, in bocce ball on the Quad, helping the fraternity keep its first-place ranking in the intramural standings (as of Oct. 26). On the women’s side, Tri-Delta sorority won the bocce ball and tennis competitions as it retained a comfortable first-place lead over Alpha Gamma Delta, which trails by more than 100 points.

Phi Psi’s teams of Andrew DiFazio ’02 and Dan Cola ’02, and Joshua Grubman ’03 and Nate Lonergan ’04, finished second in bocce ball. For the women, Amanda Simone ’02 and Emelie George ’02 prevailed, and Beth Sharkin ’02 and Stacie Truesdell ’02 took second place for Pi Phi. Crystalann Harbold ’02 and Jen Murno ’02 tied for third place with Laney Wyatt ’03 and Meghan Vacca ’03 of Tri-Delta.

In the chess tournament at Kirby Sports Center, champion Jesse Nickerson ’05 was followed by Josh Grubman ’03 of Phi Psi in second place, and Ben Dymond ’02 of Phi Psi and Volkan Oktem ’04 of ISA tying for third.

At a tournament lasting from Sept. 26 through Oct. 20 at the Sullivan Lane courts, Thea Fry ’03 won the tennis championship for Tri-Delta, with Michelle DiMeglio ’04 in second place and Anissa Leon ’03 of Alpha Phi in third.

Jeff Palen ’02 of Theta Chi prevailed in men’s tennis. He was followed by Robert Fallone ’04 of Phi Psi and Jose Gonzales ’02 and Jeff Boyle ’02 of BUM Squad.
