The following full-time professors joined Lafayette’s faculty this fall:
Nicole Fabricand-Person
Joining the art department as assistant professor is Nicole Fabricand-Person. A professional artist from 1976-85, she served most recently at Princeton University’s art museum and library of art and archaeology. She taught at Barnard College, Bryn Mawr College, Columbia University, Swarthmore College, University of Pennsylvania, Princeton, and Rutgers University. She holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Japanese art and archaeology and an A.B. in Chinese art and archaeology, all from Princeton.
Tina Huang
Tina Huang, assistant professor, comes to the chemistry department from the National Institute of Standards and Technology, where she served as postdoctoral associate and research chemist since 1999. She received her Ph.D. in analytical chemistry (with bioanalytical emphasis) from the University of Kansas in 1998. She also holds a B.S. in chemistry from Bethel College, Kansas.
Victoria Langland
Coming to the College as instructor of history is Victoria Langland. She was Andrew W. Mellon Fellow in Latin American History at Yale University, where she is completing her Ph.D. in Latin American history. She holds an M.Phil. and M.A. in Latin American history from Yale, and a B.A. and M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean studies from University of Chicago.
David Luis-Brown
David Luis-Brown, assistant professor of English, comes to Lafayette from University of California, Berkeley, where he taught as lecturer last year. He has also taught at UC Davis and Pomona College. He earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in literature at UC Santa Cruz, and holds an M.A. in comparative culture from UC Irvine and a B.A. in English from Amherst College.
Jeffrey O. Pfaffmann
Joining the computer science department as assistant professor is Jeffrey O. Pfaffman, who completed a Ph.D. in computer science from Wayne State University this year. He also earned an M.S. and taught several courses at Wayne State. He holds a bachelor of applied arts in computer science/broadcasting and cinematic arts from Central Michigan University.
Joseph Shieber
Joseph Shieber, assistant professor of philosophy, earned a Ph.D. in philosophy from Brown University this year. He comes from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was lecturer in linguistics and philosophy. He also taught at Brown, Connecticut College, and Stonehill College. He holds an M.A. from Brown and a B.A. in literature from Yale.
David Stifel
Joining the department of economics and business as assistant professor is David Stifel. He comes from Cornell University, where he was research associate in the Food and Nutrition Policy program and taught several courses. He holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in economics from Cornell, an M.A. in international relations from Johns Hopkins University’s Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, and a B.A. in Asian Studies from Colgate University.
