A “hunger banquet,” talks by homeless people, a “cardboard city,” a food drive, and other activities will be part of Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week Nov. 9-16.

The week’s events are sponsored by the Community Renewal Team of the Landis Community Outreach Center:

An OxFam Hunger Banquet will be held 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Marlo Room of Farinon College Center. “Learn how the rest of the world eats through an interactive dinner.” To sign up, email stoddard@lafayette.edu.

A “Faces of Homelessness” brown bag will be held noon Friday, Nov. 14, in Interfaith Chapel, Hogg Hall. Residents from the Safe Harbor shelter and Third Street Alliance in Easton will share their stories. For more information, email moakley22@hotmail.com.

In the “Midnight Run,” students will deliver dinner, socks, and gloves to homeless people in New York City Saturday, Nov. 15. The group will leave campus Saturday night and return early Sunday morning. To sign up or help before the event, email theilerd@lafayette.edu.

All week, a “cardboard city” will be built in various locations on the campus to raise awareness about homelessness issues and what homeless people go through on a daily (and nightly) basis. For more information, email boyda@lafayette.edu.

In the Farinon Center, a daily fair trade coffee display will show how simply switching brands can help coffee farmers around the world. The display will include a blind coffee-tasting session between fair trade and regular coffee. For more information, email essekui@lafayette.edu.

An Alternative Gifts Market will be held in the Farinon Center all week. Shares will be available for purchase to support specific projects, and can serve as holiday gifts. For more information, email essekui@lafayette.edu.

Containers for nonperishable food will be stationed in front of the Farinon Center throughout the week. For details on the food drive, email taron@lafayette.edu.
