The ongoing transformation of Skillman Library is one of many significant changes to the campus over the life of Lafayette College, as expressed in an exhibit on display in the library. Hall Gone: Lafayette College’s Lost Architectural Past documents changes to the campus landscape through a series of historical images from the College Archives.
The exhibit features photographs of a Quad that at one time included (beginning counterclockwise from Pardee) the Traill Green Observatory, Gayley Hall of Chemistry and Metallurgy, Old Dormitory Row, Brainerd (now Hogg) Hall, and faculty houses. Also on display are photographs of some minor structures that have not survived the college’s growth, along with some existing buildings whose outward appearance has changed markedly over the years.
The exhibit will remain on display through the end of fall semester.
