Bruce Benson, DeVoe L. Moore Distinguished Research Professor in the department of economics at Florida State University, will speak on “The Economic Anatomy of a Drug War” 7:30 p.m. Monday in Jacqua Auditorium, Hugel Science Center.

A widely published researcher and associate editor of The Journal of Drug Issues, Benson is a candidate for the Simon Chair in Economics at Lafayette. He will give economic insight into the war on drugs, followed by a question-and-answer session. The event is free and open to the public.

Benson is serving as a Fulbright Senior Specialist in Economicsto the Czech Republic, having taught law and economics and neoinstitutional economics May 10-31, 2003 at the Vysoká Škola Ekonomická (University of Economics), Faculty of Economics and Public Administration, in Prague. He will teach there again May 8-29.
