Pennsylvania State Sen. Rob Wonderling (District 24) will meet with local residents and the campus community 1:30-2:30 p.m. today in the Wilson Room of Pfenning Alumni Center.
Light refreshments will be offered at the informal session, which is open to the public.
Elected to his first Senate term in November 2002, Wonderling serves as vice chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and is a member of the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, Aging and Youth, Local Government, Communications and Technology, and Game and Fisheries Committees.
He is vice president of Bentley Systems, Inc., a Pennsylvania engineering software and technology company.
He served as former Gov. Tom Ridge’s deputy secretary of transportation, responsible for improving the operation and efficiency of PennDOT’s 5,000-employee highway maintenance workforce.In that position, he developed and implemented the Agility Program, which coordinates highway services between the state Transportation Department and municipal and county governments across Pennsylvania.
Wonderling also held the position of chief operating officer of the Team Pennsylvania Economic Development Organization, working with Ridge and business and community leaders on workforce development, tourism, job retention, infrastructure and transportation improvements, and attracting new industries to our state.
Before joining the Ridge Administration, Wonderling worked at Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., where he led initiatives to make air cleaner and purer and energy consumption more efficient.
As president of the PENJERDEL Council, an organization devoted to the Delaware Valley’s economic and environmental prosperity, Wonderling was involved in numerous policy initiatives related to the region’s environment, water supply, land use planning, and trails.
Wonderling earned a B.S. from Allegheny College and a master’s in government administration from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1997, he was selected by Ridge to attend a program for senior executives in state government hosted at Harvard University.
He is a trustee of Cheyney University and a member of the board of directors of the Philadelphia Leadership Foundation, a faith-based service organization.
