The deadline for the 2004 American Friends of Lafayette Essay Contest has been extended from March 15 to Wednesday, March 31. Entries should be submitted electronically in MS Word or WordPerfect format to Philip Schroeder, 316 Markle Hall, 610-330-5200.

Students also are invited by the Chaplain’s Office to apply for the Samuel Robinson Award.

The annual essay contest awards a $250 prize to the author of the best essay about the Marquis de Lafayette. Essays must be 1,000 to 2,000 words written and submitted by an enrolled student of Lafayette. Questions about the contest may be directed to Schroeder at x5200 or schroedp@lafayette.edu.

Essays will be judged by a committee appointed by the president of the American Friends of Lafayette and, if a winner is selected, the prize will be awarded at the Honors Convocation in April 2004.
