Donald Chambers, Walter E. Hanson/KPMG Professor of Business and Finance, will give a talk on “Investing 101: How to Maximize Your Income” 7 p.m. today Hall of Civil Rights auditorium.

“Some very important decisions regarding financial planning are made during the first few years of a person’s career,” says Chambers, who has published five books and more than 30 journal articles regarding investments, corporate finance, and capital markets. “This talk focuses on which investment decisions are the highest priorities and provides an overview of potential solutions. Emphasis is placed on understanding prudent long-term planning rather than analyzing recent and forecasted financial market conditions.”

Sponsored by Lafayette’s new Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE), the talk is open to the campus community. SIFE members are economics and business major Matthew Guadagno ’05 (Short Hills, N.J.), mathematics and economics major Martin Lawlor ’05 (Morristown, N.J.), American Studies and economics and business double major Adrienne Stark ’04 (Oxford, N.J.), and computer science major Steve Caruso ’06 (Middletown, N.J.).

Advised by Sheila Handy, assistant professor of economics and business, they traveled to New York Monday to give a presentation in a competition with several other collegiate SIFE teams.
