On May 31, Betsy Bauer Patterson ’85 received the “Woman Who Makes A Difference” award from the Women’s ResourceCenter which serves women and girls in Summit, N.J. The award recognized Patterson’s 10 years of work for the local Junior League.
Patterson, who worked as a unit manager for Proctor & Gamble after graduating from Lafayette, later received a certificate from the New York School of Interior Design. She owns E.J.B. Patterson Design, an interior-design firm.
Patterson has served on the league’s board as its president and as a coordinator of the 9/11 Walk for Remembrance. She is currently a member of the fundraising committee for Project S.A.F.E. which creates transitional housing for abused women and children in Union County, N.J. She is also a board member of both the Overlook Hospital Foundation and The Connection for Women and Families.
Volunteering, said Patterson, is a habit that Lafayette helped form.
“When I was at Lafayette, there were many opportunities to volunteer, to work on various committees, and to hold leadership positions,” she said. “The positive college volunteer
experiences I had definitely influenced my choice to be active in my community through
volunteerism.”
