Testing students’ skill and athleticism, Spirit Week 2004 includes many events and activities to build enthusiasm and anticipation for Saturday’s annual football game against archrival Lehigh. The game will decide which team claims the Patriot League football championship and an automatic berth in the Division I-AA playoffs.
Spirit banners are due at the Student Government office today. The group with the best banner will win a pizza party.
Students should eat a light lunch before trying to ride a mechanical bull in the Farinon Atrium 11 a.m.-2 p.m. today.
Taking a page from the World Series of Poker, a Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tournament will be held 8 p.m. Tuesday at Gilbert’s. At the same time and place, students are invited to show off their voices at an open mike night.
Free photo buttons with the Leopard will be distributed noon Wednesday in the Farinon Atrium. Later that day, students can cheer for their favorite contestant in the Mr. Lafayette competition at 8 p.m. in the Farinon Snack Bar.
Students competing in four-person teams will throw some frozen birds and try their skill at turkey bowling 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Kamine Gymnasium. The intramural signup forms are due Tuesday. A dodgeball tournament is scheduled to follow turkey bowling in the gym. Registration for teams of six to ten competitors will take place in Farinon during lunch Thursday. Snacks will be provided.
All day Friday, people judged the “craziest dressed Leopards” will win prizes. The annual Pep Rally will begin 5:45 p.m. at the steps of Skillman Library. It will include performances by the Lafayette dancers, cheerleaders, a step team, and others; free food; contests, including a chance to win free Lafayette-Lehigh tickets; other prizes and free T-shirts; and music.
The party continues at 1 a.m. in the Farinon Atrium with the Lloyd Dobler Effect cover band.
