THREE RECEIVE NATIONAL COMPUTER SCIENCE SCHOLARSHIP IN FOUR YEARS

LAMB-FAFFELBERGER QUOTED IN NATIONAL NEWSPAPERS ABOUT NOBEL PRIZE WINNER

Margarete Lamb-Faffelberger, associate professor and head of foreign languages and literatures, is quoted in national newspapers about Elfriede Jelinek, an avant-garde Austrian author who recently won the Nobel Prize in Literature. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING MAJORS BUILD INDY CAR

A team of about 40 students is constructing a small, formula-style race car for their senior design project through the Society of Automotive Engineers. PICONE ’05 RELATES MATERNAL EDUCATION TO CHILDHOOD OBESITY

Victoria Picone ’05, economics and business major, and David Stifel, assistant professor of economics and business, studied the relationship between obesity in children and the education of their mothers. FOOTBALL TEAM ENTERS STRETCH RUN ATOP PATRIOT LEAGUE

The Leopards sit atop the Patriot League standings at 3-0 and are 6-2 overall heading into a stretch run that includes a game at Colgate this weekend and games at the friendly confines of Lafayette’s Fisher Field vs. Holy Cross on Nov. 13 and Lehigh on Nov. 20.

NIKOLOVA ’06 EXPLORES WAYS TO ENHANCE CROP PRODUCTIVITY

Evgenia Nikolova ’06, a biochemistry major, is conducting experiments on algae with David Husic, Larkin Professor and head of chemistry. They are exploring how an enzyme on unicellular algae could help specific microscopic plants acquire carbon dioxide.

BELDEN ‘63 HONORED WITH PENNSYLVANIA BAR MEDAL
The Pennsylvania Bar Association bestowed its highest honor upon H. Reginald Belden ’63 at its annual meeting this year. He received the Pennsylvania Bar Medal, only the eighth recipient of the award in the century-old history of the association.
