ARSENIC-TREATMENT PROJECT WINS RESEARCH COMPETITION
A project by the Society of Environmental Scientists and Engineers took 2nd at the 2005 WERC International Environmental Engineering Design Contest in New Mexico. They presented technology and design for treating arsenic in drinking water for rural, isolated communities. They will present research at six regional and national conferences.

CORTAZAR ’07 COLLECTS ESPN HONORS IN BASEBALL
Third baseman Frank Cortazar ’07 has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District II Team. He started in all but one of 44 games and rang up a .310 average from the batter’s box. A biochemistry major, he has a 3.97 overall GPA.

Alyssa Picchini ’04 is one of a handful of students worldwide to be awarded a National Institutes of Health-Cambridge University Scholarship in biomedical research. A neuroscience graduate, she is completing a postbaccalaureate fellowship at NIH in the Laboratory of Molecular Pathophysiology of Mood and Anxiety Disorders and intends to pursue a Ph.D. in pharmacology at Columbia University.
