Students of the Documentary Film class taught by Andrew Smith, assistant professor of English and chair of American studies, will screen their films 8 p.m. May 8 in Oeschle Hall room 224.
A question and answer session will follow.
Last year hundreds attended the screening of student produced original documentary shorts on topics including Greek life, squirrels, campus architecture, and Lafayette’s rivalry with Lehigh University, among others.
The Audience Award and Jury Prize went to “Searching for Irene,” a satirical look at the character Irene Noodleman, a supposed part-time Lafayette reference and genealogy librarian, by American studies major Kelly Barrows ’06 (Clarks Green, Pa.) and English major Tyler Cohn ’06 (Wantagh, N.Y.).
The Filmmakers’ Award went to “To Bite the Hand that Feeds,” a study of janitorial and dining services employees at the Farinon Center and the need to show them more respect, by Michael Pancione ’05 (Dresher, Pa.), a double major in economics & business and English, and Jakub Pritz ’05(Holmes, Pa.), a physics major.
