The sounds of a cappella will fill the Farinon College Center Snack Bar 8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9.

All male a cappella group The Chorduroys will perform some old favorites as well as a few new songs in their December concert, including a never before publicly performed arrangement of N*SYNC’s “O Holy Night.”

Their current repertoire includes “Welcome to Paradise” by Greenday, “Superstition” by Stevie Wonder, “Sittin’ on the Dock of the Bay” by Rockapella, “Feel Like Makin’ Love” by Bad Company, “Sunshine” by Cadence, “Push” by Matchbox 20, “More Than Words” by Extreme, “Just a Gigolo” by David Lee Roth, “Alcohol” by Barenaked Ladies, “Tribute” by Tenacious D, “Africa” by Toto, and “Ring The Bell of Old South College” by P.P. Bliss and Parke Davis.

Chorduroys president Dustin Bednarz ’08 (Shavertown, Pa.) is excited about the group’s upcoming performance.

“We’ll definitely be singing at least one, and possibly two new songs since our November performance,” he says. “If you like music and laughing, you’ll leave the show with a smile.”

Bednarz believes his experience with the group has been nothing but positive.

“I knew I wanted to sing with The Chorduroys before I knew what my major was,” says Bednarz, a biology major. “I’ve always liked to sing, and the group gives me an opportunity to sing popular songs in a more relaxed atmosphere. We have a lot of fun performing all over the northeastern U.S. and have been very successful competing in the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA) over the past few years. Beyond that, I’ve made some of my closest friends through The Chorduroys.”

Along with Bednarz, members of The Chorduroys include mechanical engineering major Ryan Bancroft ’08 (McDonough, Ga.), Max Bass ’10 (Gorham, Maine), government and law major Dan Flaherty ’08 (Lancaster, Pa.), civil engineering major Ben Flath ’07 (Scotch Plains, N.J.), Colin Fraser ’10 (Cranford, N.J.), economics and business major Devin MaGrann ’08 (Northfield, N.J.), biochemistry major Danny Massa ’08 (Carlisle, Pa.), mechanical engineering major James Melachrinos ’07 (East Hanover, N.J.), economics & business and philosophy double major Jeff Lininger ’07 (Malvern, Pa.), biochemistry major Marc Lisi ’08 (Orange, Conn.), international economics and commerce major Matt Roy ’07 (Long Valley, N.J.), and Tim Zirkel ’08 (Honey Brook, Pa.), who is pursuing B.S. degrees in mathematics and computer science.

For over a decade, The Chorduroys have been singing various numbers from rock to rap, Motown to modern, and have produced three CDs, the most recent Chords in the U.S.A. in May 2006. They came in second place at the ICCA Mid-Atlantic Region quarterfinals at DrexelUniversity this past January, which qualified them to compete for the first time in the semifinal round.
