Suzanne Westfall, professor and head of English, will host the first “Books & Coffee” program of the spring semester 7:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5 in the back room of Gilbert’s Cafe. She will be engaging students, faculty and staff in a book discussion of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code.

Free coffee and cookies will be provided.

“The program gives students the opportunity to hear faculty and staff talk about topics that interest them apart from their research and teaching specializations and provides the students with a chance to expand their learning by discussing books that are of interest to them,” says Jessica Manjack, assistant operations manager for Student Life Programs.

The first program, held last semester, featured a discussion with President Dan Weiss about F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby.

“The first “Books & Coffee” was a great success,” says Manjack. “President Weiss’ knowledge of The Great Gatsby and F. Scott Fitzgerald himself made for a great discussion piece for those who attended.”

There are two more programs scheduled for this semester. Alan Childs, professor of psychology, will discuss Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini Monday, Feb. 26 and Michelle Geoffrion-Vinci, associate professor of foreign languages and literatures, will discuss Wicked by Gregory Maguire Wednesday, March 21.
