Visit downtown Easton between now and Valentine’s Day and you could win a chance at a fabulous “night on the town,” including dinner for two at Phenom, a new Thai vegetarian restaurant slated to open this month, two tickets to a show at the State Theatre, an evening at the Lafayette Inn on College Hill, chocolate-covered strawberries from the Carmelcorn Shop, and a bouquet of flowers from Posey Peddler.

“Love Letters: An Easton Love Story,” is a series of fictional letters concocted by Megan McBride, assistant manager of Easton’s Main Street Program, and local historian Richard Hope. Each letter is framed and displayed at one of the local merchants, and participants must read the letters and guess the identity of “Ben,” a young love-struck soldier writing to his fictional sweetheart.

Kim Kmetz, Main Street Program manager, says “Ben” is an actual Easton historical figure, and many participants won’t even have to read every letter to figure out the mystery, designed to promote downtown shopping and historical awareness.

Entry forms, available at each of the 17 participating merchants, must be returned to Bixler’s Jewelers at 24 Centre Square by Feb. 14.
