Last weekend’s “Dance for Darfur” was a huge success with more than 200 students in attendance and $2,430 raised for the Save Darfur Coalition.

“I think it was inspiring to see so many different students supporting this cause, which illustrates how Lafayette students are willing to come together for issues concerning not just their local community but for humanity,” says international affairs and French double major Jillian Gaeta ’07 (Middletown, N.J.), who organized the event. “It is important for students to become engaged with organizations like the Save Darfur Coalition because they play an active role in making a difference in the world. Their advocacy work shows that Americans have a strong voice and we can work together and create necessary change.”

The semiformal ball, which was the finale for United Against Hate Week, was organized to help raise awareness of the ongoing genocide in the Sudan. It is one of many rallies, discussions, and fundraisers Lafayette students have participated in over the last two years.
