The weekend of June 1-3 is sure to be a memorable one for the Class of 1962 as it celebrates its 45th reunion.

“Reunion is a time to return and renew old acquaintances and to build new ones with people we knew but might not have known well,” says Class President Jeffrey Ruthizer ’62. “It’s the perfect time to learn from each other while trading good stories, experiences, [and talking about] travel, retirement, spouses, and the rising cost of healthcare.”

Returning members of the class can look forward to a social, cocktail hour, numerous lectures and speakers, a private class dinner, and much more.

Jim Lyttle ’62, who has been reunion chair for 20 years, always enjoys connecting with classmates and looks forward to seeing old friends.

“Reunion gives me the chance to reconnect with friends from different groups, such as my fraternity brothers, classmates from my chemical engineering major, baseball teammates, and my fellow ROTC, choir, and College Church members,” he says.

For John Beckum ’62, Reunion is a time to renew.

“I always look forward to seeing classmates return to campus for their very first Reunion,” says Beckum, who has attended eight reunions. “It’s also a great time to keep in contact with friends and remember what life was like 45 years ago.”

Matt Thomases ’62 finds that Reunion not only helps him stay connected to his fellow classmates, but also with Lafayette students of today.

“I am really looking forward to the opportunity to see a classroom in action on Friday. I am an education-centered person and would like to put my mind around what is happening on campus today in the intellectual sphere,” he says. “Reunion allows us to see our classmates, get an update on the College, and, in a small way, continue to be a part of the Lafayette family.”
