After visiting 12 ports of call on the Eastern seaboard, the Hermione, a replica of the Marquis de Lafayette’s frigate, is making its way back to France.

The Hermione‘s voyage was featured in dozens of international media outlets. Our resident expert on the Marquis de Lafayette, College Archivist Diane Shaw, discussed the Hermione in the following articles:

Hundreds of students and alumni got a chance to see the ship during College-hosted events at Alexandria, Va., Annapolis, Md., Boston, New York, and Philadelphia. The photo gallery below gives just a taste of all the fun.

    I know that it would be vastly incorrect, but I would have been so happy to see the Hermione sailing up the Caloosahatchee River past my home here in Florida. Forget the Spanish guns and the Indian arrows as mere historical inaccuracies!
