Three students took home state championships from the Pennsylvania Forensic Association’s annual tournament Feb. 18-19 at West Chester University.
Theater major Olivia Coughlin ’20 (York, Maine) placed first in dramatic interpretation. Aaron Walker ’18 (Phoenixville, Pa.), a policy studies major, won the impromptu speaking portion. English major Yazmin Baptiste ’20 (Glen Oaks, N.Y.) took first in poetry interpretation
The Forensics Society placed second overall and is preparing to compete in the National Forensics Association’s national tournament April 11-18 at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
The College has excelled on the national level, placing second in 2013 and 2015 in the Lincoln Douglas debate portion of the tournament. In 2009, the team was the national champion in Division III speech, and in 2010, the team took second place in both debate and Division III speech. Since 2009, 17 students have won state championships.
