Lafayette College Theater will perform The Club by Eve Merriam, a satirical look at male attitudes toward the opposite sex, 8 p.m. Oct. 2-5 in the Williams Center for the Arts Black Box theater.
Tickets cost $6 and may be purchased by calling the box office, (610) 330-5009. Seating, designed to be part of the men's club atmosphere of the production, is limited.
Director and choreographer Rusty Curcio will preview the play in the Black Box noon-1 p.m. Monday. Lunch may be brought or purchased for $3.
Curcio is head of the dance program at Wagner College and a professional dancer, choreographer, and director. He recently choreographed the dance piece performed by Miss New Jersey in the 2002 Miss America Pageant.
''It is a pleasure to have Rusty Curcio return to work with the College Theater program,'' says Michael O'Neill, director of Lafayette College Theater. ''Rusty did the excellent choreography for A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum during our 2000-01 season. The Club, which demands great attention to movement and dancing, seemed an ideal vehicle for Rusty to direct. And he is wonderfully patient and supportive with the students.''
The play is set in the privileged world of an exclusive men's club in 1903, ''when male chauvinist behavior and banter were in full flower.'' The production includes the popular music of the period, sung, and danced to by members of the club.
Stage management for the production is by Katherine Rewinkel '03. Musical direction is by Tom DiGiovanni '96, lighting Richard A. Kendrick, scenery by Vicki Neal, and costumes by D. Polly Kendrick, Parrott Designs.
