The annual International Students Association Extravaganza will highlight different regions of the world through daily expositions and brown bags this week, culminating in a Grand Finale Saturday.
All events are free and open to the public.
Regions will be highlighted through displays 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Monday to Friday in the Farinon Center Atrium and brown bag discussions starting 12:15 p.m. at various locations. Free lunch will be included.
Each day’s region and brown bag topic and location:
Monday – The Far East, “Expression of Sexuality and Eroticism in Far Eastern Cultures,” Hogg Hall, Interfaith Chapel.
Tuesday — South Asia, “Representation of the Female Goddess in Sub-Continental Cultures,” Gagnon Lecture Hall, Hugel Science Center room 100. The event is co-sponsored by the Delta Upsilon fraternity.
Wednesday – Europe and the Middle East, “Role of the EU in National and Cultural Identities in Modern day Europe,” Marlo Room West, Farinon Center.
Thursday – Africa, “Stereotypes in Africa,” Hogg Hall, Interfaith Chapel. The event is co-sponsored by the Phi Psi fraternity.
Friday – North and South America, “WSF, a Global Voice for Activism and Alternate Visions of the World,” Marlo Room West, Farinon Center.
Saturday’s Grand Finale will begin 5 p.m. in the Marquis Hall Begethon Room with a food tasting of dishes representing different parts of the world. The Tour of the World will begin 7 p.m., featuring dances, fashion shows, skits, and more.
Other sponsors of Extravaganza are the mathematics, foreign languages and literatures, and economics and business departments; Lafayette African and Caribbean Students Association; and the Office of Student Activities.
