LifeSize Communications, an Austin, Texas-based videoconferencing company, recently made Munira Fareed ’93 its vice president of marketing. She is responsible for all product marketing.

Previously, Fareed founded and ran Appleseed Partners, a marketing consulting firm with technology clients in Texas and New York. She also served as vice president of marketing for Ineto, a customer communications service provider targeted to small and midsize businesses, for which she was responsible for product marketing, marketing communications, public relations, and brand building. Prior to joining Ineto, Fareed was responsible for product marketing and corporate communications at Netpliance. She also held senior marketing positions at Trilogy Software and Motorola.

Ironically for a communications professional, Fareed claims that she was once shy.

“(English professor) Carolynn Van Dyke made me comfortable enough to voice my opinion and participate actively,” she says. “She made all of her students feel that what they had to say was important. Now I’m usually the first to speak up in meetings and love to address groups!”

An economics & business and computer science graduate, Fareed earned an MBA from Cornell University.

“My favorite part of campus life was being a resident adviser in Ramer Hall,” she says. “When I visited Lafayette last year with my two-year-old son, I showed him my very first room in Marquis Hall. It was just as I remembered it my first day on campus.”
