Students in the Geologic Disasters course built models of buildings and then subjected them to an earthquake test to see what level of intensity their design could withstand. Taught by Larry Malinconico, associate professor of geology and environmental geosciences, the course examines the Earth’s many geological processes and the risks people take by living in areas vulnerable to the violence of nature.
