Susan Carras ’76

Carras has served on the board from 1996 to 1998 and from 1999 to the present. Currently the chair of the Committee on Development and Alumni Relations and a member of the Executive Committee, she previously served on the Committee on Grounds and Buildings and the Easton Committee.

Carras was a member of the search committee that identified Daniel H. Weiss as the College’s 16th president and served on the Ad Hoc Committee on Sexual Misconduct and Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Life. She is the recipient of the Alumni Association’s George T. Woodring ’19 Volunteer of the Year Award, presented in 2013, and Clifton P. Mayfield 1909 Outstanding Young Alumni Award, recognizing outstanding service to the College or the association, presented in 1990.

A history major, Carras graduated with departmental honors, magna cum laude, and was the recipient of the Lyman Coleman Prize and the Reverend J.W. and R.S. Porter Bible Prize. She did graduate work at Fordham University and Pace University. She is a senior managing director of HFF LP, one of the nation’s largest commercial real estate capital intermediaries. Co-head of the Washington, D.C., office, she is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the office’s debt and equity placement team.

Prior to HFF, Carras was a principal and managing director with Sonnenblick Goldman (including Cushman & Wakefield Sonnenblick Goldman). She also has been a principal with and helped establish StonebridgeCarras. Earlier in her career, she completed credit training at Chase Manhattan Bank, where she was a lending officer in the Real Estate Finance Division. She is the recipient of the Greater Washington Commercial Association of Realtors Top Financing Award and Top Sales Award for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Area.

Carras is a member of the Urban Land Institute and of the DC Metro President’s Council of the Higher Achievement Program, which serves children in the fifth through eighth grades.
